What happens if it rains or the weather turns bad?
At JomHiking, your safety and experience are our top priorities. Here’s how we handle weather-related situations:
Safety Comes First:
If there’s severe weather like heavy rain, thunderstorms, or strong winds that may put hikers at risk, we may cancel or postpone the trip. Our guides are trained to assess on-ground conditions and make the safest call.
Flexible Options if Cancelled:
If we need to cancel due to weather, you’ll get to choose:
- Full refund if you’re unable to reschedule.
- Free reschedule or a voucher for another date with better weather.
Be Prepared:
- Check the weather forecast before your trip.
- Bring light rain gear such as a poncho or rain jacket.
- For light rain, we may still proceed — some hikers even find it more refreshing and fun!
Light Rain? Still On!
We won’t let a drizzle ruin the adventure! Our hikes continue with extra care in light rain. The jungle scenery becomes more vibrant and cool a unique experience in itself.
We’ll Keep You Informed:
We’ll notify you ahead of time if any changes are expected due to weather, and you’ll always have a say in how to proceed.
What do the hiking difficulty ratings mean?
Our difficulty rating is a simple scale from 0 to 10 that provides a quick overview of what you can expect from a hike. We've developed this system to help you choose a trail that matches your skill and fitness level.
0-1 (Very Easy): These are leisurely walks on flat, well-maintained paths. Perfect for beginners, families, and those looking for a relaxing day out.
2-3 (Easy): Gentle trails with minimal elevation gain. They may include some uneven terrain but are generally suitable for most people.
4-5 (Moderate): Hikes with noticeable elevation gain and varied terrain. These require a decent level of fitness and may take a few hours to complete.
6-7 (Challenging): Strenuous climbs with significant elevation and technical sections. These are for experienced hikers who are prepared for a long and demanding day.
8 (Demanding): A true test of endurance with very steep inclines and difficult terrain. These trips require a high level of fitness and mental fortitude.
9-10 (Extreme): Our toughest trails, suitable only for the most seasoned and prepared hikers. These involve intense, multi-day journeys through extreme terrain and are reserved for expert adventurers.
