Gunung Jerai via Tangga Kenari
Relentless vertical climb via the historic '1,000 Steps' (Tangga Kenari). A tough, cardio-intensive hike for experienced beginners.
The ascent of Gunung Jerai via the Tangga Kenari Trail is less about distance and more about relentless vertical gain. Known affectionately as the 'Stairway to Heaven' (or sometimes, the 'Stairway to Agony'), this route is famous for its long, challenging series of concrete and stone steps—reputedly around 1,000 in total—that climb steeply through the dense forest canopy.
This historic trail was once a primary access route for workers and visitors heading to the resort and radar station at the summit. While the steps offer firm footing, they demand high physical endurance, making this a great hike suitable for experienced beginners or intermediate hikers looking for a solid cardio workout.
